Ebay Is So Stressful

People buy things and a week later want a refund. One customer bought a dress, wanted it for the weekend, and today has told me its not good quality and wants a refund (weekend is over). Where do i stand with this? I am fuming. Only doing ebay because i have silly load of debt and this it to pay it off. More stress than its worth! Ebay seem to stick up for buyers almost always!

SIRandyraven 2 years ago I would have agreed with you that eBay were on the side of the buyer, but I find it is a lot more fair now. I have sold £240 worth of stuff this month my best to date.

My daughter gave up trying to sell clothes on ebay for exactly the same reason and now just gives them to Sue Ryder's Charity.
I'm afraid I confirm that a minority do abuse the mail order business.
When Next Directory first started I was their local courier. At the time they used to sell dinner suits. When I delivered the suits customers would often arrange for me to call back on the following Monday to collect the suit after they had worn it for the occasion.
At about the same time I sub-contracted to another courier distribution company and collected all their returns in a given area.
Always remember a request I got on Christmas eve to collect a large parcel.
When I went round to get it the lady said she hadn't packed it yet .." not to worry I said, I have got loads of packing materials and I will help you do it ".
Sheepishly she asked if I could come back after Christmas ... otherwise the kids wouldn't have a Christmas tree.
Needless to say I demanded the tree there and then, otherwise I wouldn't get paid. I left the kids with no tree and in floods of tears !



Only joking ... I left them with it and I called back in the New Year... got a box of shortbread into the bargain !

I did have some good results over the years.
The general public can be weird buyers sometimes.

Had two midwinter vases.
I bought them both at an antiques fair for £240 for both.
They sell on ebay for between £115 and £150 and a show of previous sold items proves previous prices.
Listed one of them (having a clear down on orders from wife) and it went into a bidding war. One of the bidders asked if she could collect if she won auction.
Anyway vase sold for £325 ! ...I posted it and all went ok.
Then I contacted buyer who came second and offered other vase I had the same for £310 and she jumped at the chance and begged to pick it up next day. I offered her free next day postage ....but nope she drove over and paid me in cash !!!
People can be strange.
Also sold a DVD I bought via Amazon and still on sale on amazon for £15 for £25 on ebay ...errr why ...
Another time I found a rather poor quality tea light holder that we bought five years back for £10 in a tat shop. Having a clear out of utility room and listed it , still in box with labels. Sold for £56. Scratches head.

Sold a Keith Murray vase for £140 (paid £50 for it two yeas prior).
Buyer was in Holland and postage was tracked and insured and came to £45 ish ...buyer mailed and said ...yep to post cost.
It went to a shoe shop in Amsterdam , I googled the website and the cheapest pair of shoes were £600 ....so they had the money it seems.
Sold another vase and buyer did not pay ...after a few e-mails they paid up.
Googled address and did a street view and it was a flat in Regents Park ...last sold for £5.5 million a few years prior.
Anyway got paid and positive feedback.

One of the people who conned me , well Royal Mail and I knew they got item...but hey ho , was a policeman in Birmingham.
That incident reminded me of when I worked in petrol station in London back in 1985 when I was a student. I worked nights and we locked door and took payments for petrol via window.
Bobby on the beat asked to use toilet. So I let him in and made him a coffee.
He stood in shop area and toyed with a car crook lock.
After half an hour he went on his way.
Next day I was asked if I had sold a crook lock ...we had 3 on display and one had gone. We only sold about one a month if that ...but one had gone missing on my shift. You have to laugh ....
