I don't have a problem with the name but I remember reading somewhere that the name is derived from the plants liking to grow in mucky cow fields and alludes to cow - slops.
For some reason I always think of that, now.

Mine is being attacked by some boring insect and it has fungus growing around the base. I think it's on its last legs but I will keep it as long as I can. The birds love it.

I don't think we are in for a snow shower, jno. My cowslips are safe.
Jasmine(smells lovely) in my south facing little front garden and some daffs, cyclamen, crocus and grape hyacinths.
