Making offensive remarks over loudspeaker landed him in front of a judge.

Reading it aloud
Reading it over a loud speaker and aiming it at someone

Two different things.
I once participated in a marathon/relay bible reading, in a small square outside of the Hotel La Fonda (highly recommended, - D.H.Lawrence stayed there) in Taos, New Mexico, so everything that could be quoted from the bible was quoted in amplified sound; but that of course was in the land of the free. :0)

Not at all. Had he said it quietly to someone who subsequently complained, presumably the judge who deemed the words offensive would have ruled similarly.

1) If it was the preacher being censored and not the book, he would have been prevented from saying anything .

Mikey, so said quietly it's not offensive? You're just being silly now. ;o)

^ nope, still offensive apparently.
Haha! ^That's common sense. ;o)
