In 2007 Remploy management announced proposals to close 42 Remploy factories, later reduced to 28 after heated debates at TUC and Labour conferences, with then Work and Pensions minister, Peter Hain, (Labour)requiring proposed factory closures to have ministerial approval. 29 factories were eventually closed in 2008

TWR, yes, I think you must have been asleep. More mines closed under Wilson and Callaghan than under Thatcher, and yes, Labour did sell this country out when they hiked off our gold reserves at knock down prices and squandered the money, not to mention selling the working man out when they rifled his pension and abolished the 10p tax rate for low earners. Open your eyes for goodness sake! Labour is not what you think it is. It relies upon the ideology of its past to retain its supporters - and they're falling for it. That ideology no longer exists within the Labour Party. It’s a fallacy.
