I drove to have a word with MrG and replace the little tribute on his headstone.....I've given up with anything too tasteful and pricey. Got fed up with them being stolen.

Imagine my surprise when I found his headstone decorated with potted plants and a Union Flag???

The plants look nice on my patio.....will have to give the flag some thought...☺

More than a little mystery, gness !.
A union flag?
Are you not originally from the Emerald Isle?
At least they left something instead of removing them.
Question Author
Indeed, Ric.....hence my surprise at the Union Flag adorning his headstone.....I'm used to having things stolen but not placed there...☺
I wonder who left them there gness ? Lovely gesture !

Was it a friend who put them there, if so why did you bring them home, or am I missing something?
Question Author
They did, Marval......I wondered if the families of those buried either side felt sorry for MrG.

One is Irish and one Italian.....their graves are a mass of rosaries, flags, pictures, bells....well you name it they have it.....

My preference is for very simple.....black with his name and dates...and an in joke from me in English and Irish.....♣
Someone used to leave a wreath on my brother's unmarked grave. I never knew if it was placed there by mistake.
Strange, MrG still winding you up x
Perhaps it was an angel. They do walk this earth, what a lovely gesture.
Question Author
Hmmmm...not sure about that, Mikey....but think SirO may have the answer......☺

Trt....unless the kids are visiting I'm the only one who goes to the grave. I just don't want it plastered with lots of bits....and not the Union Flag....it was large and looked tacky.

I wondered about a mistake as it's the first time it's happened in seven years, Sandy......x
Question Author
MrG still manages to wind me up......but he and an angel would know what plants to leave......and perhaps the tricolour.......♣
Was mr g ever in the forces, gness ?.
We've got an unmarked grave
I think it irks my cousins but that's what my mum wants
When I get ownership I intend to have a very simple stone placed with a little prayer
Too many to have all the names on
Question Author
No, Tony......he often tried to enlist after he met me but the mad look in his eyes got him turned down....☺
Question Author
Although I did buy a double plot, Ric I now intend to be buried in the natural burial ground near here.

MrG is buried where he is because it's what he would have wanted....to stay in the town of his birth.....but it's too noisy for me.....I did boob a bit when he died as you do when in a tiz but short of an exhumation I can't change things now...x
Just wondered, gness. If he had have been then that could have been a reason for the union flag.

Oh we do still think of him, Clarion......he's still very much remembered with family and friends.....he was too important in our lives to forget.....but honestly, nobody would put the flag on his grave as a nice gesture....x
