Hi, have picked your brains a few times.

Last night ended up at A and e, as I completely lost my hearing in my left ear and then got exceptionally dizzy and unbalanced.

After a lengthy check up, I was given waxsol and stemetil and an appointment to get my ear seen to.

Bp was really up but then i was panicky, rest of stats were fine. Neurological signs all fine.

I am still getting dizzy, is this normal even on stemetil?

thanks

Hi Sqad

Been to see nurse and apparently she can see my ear drum now and it is fine, no wax occluding the way. I am still taking these tablets though and still feel off balance, although my hearing has returned.

GP on tuesday. In the meantime do I keep taking the pills?

Good news creamy.........my worst fears was that it was a nerve deafness in which case your deafness would have been permanent, even with treatment............but it isn't.

Now back to the dizziness......this could be due to one or two things, b ut for the meantime, carry on with the medication, monitor the situation for the next week and then get back to us.

Again....good news.

hi sqad, back at docs for check up,

She was horrified I was on 10mg stemetil 3x a day and wants me to go down to 1x a day for next two days then stop. I have to continue with the betahistine 3 times a day for foreseeable future. She says still wax there but she can see the drum. ENT app next week.

Is this a good plan? I am scared stiff about getting dizzy but havent been so since last week (but i have been taking regular pills). Hearing still ok.
Your original post is so far back that i occasionally forget to check...;-)

Yes......do what the doc says, but if the dizziness comes back, then up the stemetil again.

We are slowly coming to a conclusion here.....let me know what the ENT bloke says.

it might be better if you started another thread when you have been seen.
