Why Is My Laptop Always Playing Up?

I´ve had my packard bell, windows 7 starter 320gb hdd 1 gb memory computer for 18mnths now. Recently its been giving me problems, eg taking forever to start up, and to close down. plus its always crashing!! I´ve done a virus check, and found nothing.

crashed, it totally freezes, cursor stops in its tracks. so find myself constantly pressing ctrl+alt+supr to get it back.
hc4361, how do i disable programmes ?

Open the Start Menu.
Click on All Programs, right click on the Startup folder, and click on Open

Untick the programs you don't want to start automatically
