Hi I,

If an organisation rented a building to a special interest group and that group disbanded and used the building for storage. Then eventually left altogether but when they left took everything they wanted and of supposed value (and told the organisation this) who owns what is left in the building?

also if during their rental period they allowed other people to store items who's responsibility is it to tell them to move it? And, again, who is the owner of the items.

Small background, the group disbanded over 15 years ago and gave up the building just over three years ago.

Thank you

Are they still paying rent? Or did they pay in advance for a set period and that period hasn't expired yet?
Is there any reason to think the organisation that owned it and rented it out doesn't now own it?
^^ FF I think it means items left behind in the building not the building itself.

They left and stopped paying rent, by agreement with the organisation, over three years ago and said they had taken everything of value that they wanted.

The reason it is thought that the special interest group doesn't now own any of it now is because they said they didn't want what was left in the building. The building owners say that they now own everything by virtue of that statement and abandonment.
I would agree that the building owners now own the items left in the building.
It it clear the original owners no longer want any of it.
