Some users solved your problem turning off JavaScript, this way... To enable JavaScript on your iPad: Tap the Settings icon. Select Safari. Touch the JavaScript toggle to turn on it or off. Press the Home button to exit the Settings window (this will also save the changes) Hope this helps.
I have an ipad2 and I had the same problem. I cured it. Firstly I reset all settings and it was still the same then I reset network settings and it is like anew one now. In resetting all settings you do not lose any content just passwords that are saved on safari. From looking online older versions are no longer available from what I read. But when I do any updates now I make sure I have a good amount of space left in the memory and I also clear safari history and make sure all the apps are up to date and then close all apps. Hope this works for you too.

Try a Restart, jo: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Or the good old Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds). No data will be lost.
You could try this... Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History and Website Data.
Now close all apps. In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Then maybe try a restart...other than that, I'm flummoxed and jomlett!
Double click the Home button and swipe all the apps still running. One by one, touch the app and swipe upwards...closing all the apps might unfreeze the screen but will definitely give you more battery time.
