My husband picked up his prescription yesterday and finds he has been prescribed a tablet he hasn't taken for many months. He hadn't requested them?
He takes Flrosemide 40mg for the swelling in his legs..[they still swell while taking them]
He used to also take Alfuzosin XL 10mg at night...he thinks this was to ease the amount of times he needs to use the loo as night....
They didn't seem to work as he was still getting up as many as 4-5 times a night. His then GP said ok leave them off....While not taking them he is still getting up that many times.
He [at 83] worried that he was taking tablets to stop him peeing at night, then another to make him pee in the daytime wasn't right..
Does anyone know if these two medicines are usually taken together, please.
I personally wouldn't waste time phoning 111. There must be a pharmacy open near you that you can call. If worried just don't take the tablet he has not been taking until Monday. Though I don't think the tablet stops him peeing.
Cupotee, there must be a duty pharmacist, round here we have Tesco with a pharmacist every day - if you can't get there, you can always phone them for advice.
Personally I'd check with the surgery why they are on the prescription if they haven't been asked for and he wasn't told he was restarting them. That's just based on my experience that surgeries, doctors (especially locums) when using computers make mistakes on repeat prescriptions.
