When MrG ran off with the girl from the pea canning factory his parents....who had always been involved in our son's life.....tried their best to have our son taken away from me and into their care.
I guess they feared being shut out of their grandson's life......
Needless to say they lost in their quest to have my son, despite some very underhand behaviour.
When I decided to move to Canada I went to court to be allowed to take my son.
I made sure my son had contact with his grandparents through letters, phone calls and tapes...no internet in those days....
For his sake I put aside the awful things they had done to me.
I invited my ex in-laws to visit every six months and when we holidayed in England he stayed with them.
It's sad when grandparents can't see the grandchildren...but I don't think they have automatic rights.
Really, it doesn't take much for the adults to be grown up about it......and do what's best for the children....especially if the grandparents have been a part of their lives.
I do think these grandparents have been foolish and have done themselves no good by spending so much money....well foolishly really.....
