Washing Shoes In Washing Machine

Have a pair of favourite Camper shoes, grey suade with black leather trimmings.
Rather scruffy.
Do you think I could get away with washing them on a very brief cycle, low temperature in the washing machine??

No not a chance. It will ruin them. You can wash trainers or canvas shoes in a machine but nothing else.

My missus regularly washes her slippers in the washing machine and they haven't fallen apart .... yet :)
I'd say you should be okay .... but don't sue me for the price of your shoes, should they fall apart in the wash lol :P

I don't think I'd put suade into washing machine, maybe if you had one of those kercher (sp) steam cleaner things it might work. I think the water would ruin them

Hmmm .... just noticed they're suede .... not so sure now .....

nope, get a can of suede cleaning foam from the shoeshop.

I have a pair of black suede boots that had got splashed by muddy puddles. I used a soft brush dipped in the foam from a mild washing up liquid/water mixture. That worked ok. I don't know how it would work with grey. I wouldn't put them in the washing machine.

Best thing for suede that I've found, is to hold the shoe over the steam of a kettle and use a suede brush.

No. It would ruin suede beyond salvation. You can get suede cleaner from any good shoe shop.

Ive got a pair of suede and leather Camper trainers (funnily enough in grey suede and black) and I was thinking to do the same thing as you, because Ive scrubbed them under the tap before no with no ill effects. I mean leather trainers go in with no problems..
