Found This On A Skip This Morning. Is It An Egg Cup?

It's made of brass and the base is weighted with lead. If it is an eggcup it seems a bit over engineered.

It would be helpful if you could give the size of it. Looks like a EPNS (silver plate) egg cup given as christening present. Look for a mark EPNS. I also looks as if its had a base which has come off -probably green felt.

It's 1 7/8ths in diameter and 2 1/4 in height.

Looks like an egg cup to me, although a rather ugly one.

I remember these were advertised in Private Eye. There'd be a deal of satisfaction to be had beating the top of the egg in a cup like this.
