When Labour lose the next general election, as a Tory I'm going to miss them as I've enjoyed watching them royally screw up, lie, commit fraud, take bribes and generally behave worse than your average pirate.

Why? Well when the Tories win the next election I know I am going to have to go from a position of critique to one of defence, although I will try to be a bit more critical in my defence than some Labourites on this site who think they are all demi-gods.

Yes, they will screw up, but I think they will have some way to go before they match the current incumbents, but at least (I hope) we will see an end to our ever increasing tax burden, the ridiculous amount of public spending (black lesbian pygmy disabled outreach worker required at 60,000 PA) and pensioners recompensed for the scandalous theft by Comrade Brown.

So, the question - are any other people of my leaning going to miss them?

Well, any party in power long enough always, it seems to me at any rate, gets a bit exteme sooner or later, or is that after long enough? Labour, sorry New Labour, are at the stage of trying to cover their short comings. but if you remember the last Tory government, they were held there in the end purely for the entertainment value I feel. Well I certainly felt entertained anyway. They reached a stage of blatant bare faced wrong doing but it all got a bit boring especialy when anyone complained about it and they'd just come back with "Ah shadapa yo' face you haven't even twiged our latest swiz yet, ha!" Total incredulity was the glue that held them in power for as long as it did. I hope New Labour are never alowed to descend to the same level.
The trouble is that most of the 'achievements' of the Labour gov't are not achievements at all... eg record nos of students in higher education - er do you mean that a significant number of graduates have record debts and are not in graduate jobs but working in estate/travel agents and doing jobs not needing a degree ?

Lowest employment for 30 yrs because they make up 'fake' jobs such as diversity officers, not to mention 200,000 more public sector jobs which don't actually add anything to the economy.

You are obviously too young to remember inflation at 27% in the mid-70s which is why the Tories came back into power for 18 yrs!

I am just hoping this gov't limps on for a few more years so that their real legacy becomes apparent!!
Actually I remember the mid 70's very well, I started my business in 1976 and thanks to the stable economic platform of the last 10 years that same business has flourished enough for me to contemplate early retirement in a couple of years time (as opposed to 17:-)

Haven't a clue where you are coming from when you state 200,000 public sector workers do not contribute to the Nations economy .... do they all live & spend abroad?

You have also got me with real estate press gangs that are forcing our graduates to live a life flogging on property ......... I never knew this existed, I honestly thought being educated they made the decision themselves to enter a highly profitable market place!?!

Being one who tries to use his vote wisely I always look at all party policy before marking my X but here lies the problem with Conservative policy ........ What is it? I hear plenty of government bashing but never hear what their policy would be on any given situation, the new boy Cameron further adds to my confusion as he seems to change his mind quicker than he changes his colour ............. Anyone out there know Tory policy on anything?
just a couple of points about your list corbyloon, first of all, i never believe the figures that labour put out to the public!!!!!!!! EVER. great mortgage rates, thats if you can even get on the property ladder as a first time buyer due to the exhorborant price of housing, as for crime figures, read the papers!!!!minimal sentances handed out to rapists, paedophilles and muggers!!!! More money is spent catching motorists, well, theres money in that for them isn't there!!!Hospitals and schools, don't make me laugh, schools are in chaos because teachers have no means of disciplining pupils anymore, ordinary women fighting not only breast cancer, but fighting for herceptin!!!!!! What a joke. the country is overloaded with illegal immigrants, many of whom are criminals, no-one knows where they are by the way!!!! No, i don't know much about politics but i can see a lot of the mess this country is in!!!! I am of the thinking that all politicians Pee in the same pot but it can't be any worse than this! My son was born in 2003 and recieved 250.00. As nice as that is, what an utter waste of tax payers money. As parents, we chose to have our child, why on earth should tax payers pay for his little nest egg when he reaches 18!!!!Oh, i think he gets another lot at 7 aswell!!! For the first time in my life, i generally feel very saddened that our country is in such a mess!
Well said julie, the trouble with a lot of these posts is they go on about how it was 10, 15, 20, 25 years ago, they should see it as it is today.
That's it I give in! I have tried 3 times to reply unruliejulie but 3 times this site has will not allow me! (Very strange)
But it accepted the above listing............... !?
what were you gonna say PhilBy?
oh, and well said jrtv too!!!
As a tory, I must admit the labour government has done quite a number of good things. But they have done a great deal to bring down the countrys morale. We have a country where little children can be dragged away from their parents, stoned to death, and the culprits are not only allowed to get away with it, they are rewarded with new lives, and god help anyone who tells where they are. Youngsters are now allowed to roam around, causing havoc and misery to young and old alike, without punishment. They are rude, foal mouthed, destructive to anything they cant have. If you have worked all your life, for something, these thugs will destroy it. They will destroy shop fronts and shopping malls, as long as they have not paid for it. And of course you mustnt punish them. Poor little darlings, its only stress. I was bombed out of my home several times during the London blitz, if I showed stress, and broke something, my Mum would have said naughty boy, dont do that again NOT!
And now we also have children being born, so their parents can get more money from the state, Im not talking about normal parents, but the kind that wont work, you know scroungers. Also now we have the government importing them,
Yes! We have a lot to thank Labour for.
