While on the subject of CU - it has now changed vehemently - nobody knows anybody on the job any more if they do they don't talk so I decided not to say as I would hi ya everybody as I entered- so I didn't - you know not one answered back - not to say Conne how were you with the sickness last week. Just feel like leaving Mondays night - I enjoy Tuesday nights and I may ask for another day/night but sure I might get the same response. Deffo the young ones are not as friendly as were in my day of work. Unbelievably so. Also I do believe attitutde from boss is - well if you don't like it leave it - we got a memo some time ago saying is you now want to volunteer (which I have done for 35 years) (you have to sit an interview now to do voluntary work ) - it is now run like a bank. A few more months/year may do me but I know I will need to do something else voluntarily.
Re the CU - sometimes what appears to be aloofness or ignorance can be shyness, I would still greet folk in a cheerful manner. Lots of organisations once run quite casually have had to tighten their rules and regs for new volunteers.
my friend and myself were maybe going to join when she retires looking after vulnerable women - the place is around the corner but when I look at the style of them and the drinking they do it puts me off.
Must contact some voluntary establishments and see what they can offer.
Would love to do food banks or help with cooking food. Last time many years ago - I volunteered but they never contacted me back. There is a clique among them all.
