Feeling A Little Excited
20 Answers
This may seem a little out of left field but bear with me.
For many years I have been trying to track down a Student Midwife who saved my life as a 3 day old baby. I tried everything I could think of to try and trace this woman. I got in touch with the midwife who actually brought me into this world a few years back but sadly she was unable to help. Mum mentioned the name of another but it was only a first name and that she did some work in a local nursing home but this was nearly 25years ago. So for a while everything had turned up nothing.
Until this morning...I couldn't get my script filled at my normal pharmacy, so my friend who works there said try the one on the next street...to which I am really glad she did. As I was making my way to the other pharmacy I heard some one say 'Thank you so much (persons name)' I was like hang on (the name isn't very common here so it got my attention) I was a few steps behind and I saw this woman go into the Office which is part of the care home. I thought nothing of it until I mentioned to mum and she said why don't you nip up and see if it is her. I toddled up but she wasn't in but will be there tomorrow and has agreed to see me and see if she can help.
I am really excited and I'm hoping that she will be able to help me so that I can try and find this other lady and say thank you.
I learnt today that I think I do believe in fate and things happen for a reason.
Wish me luck

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Sqad, it goes a little like this...the student midwife came in to see mum and asked had she been shown how to bath me, mum said no, so together they both bathed me. A few hours later mum noticed that the scab from where my foetal monitor had been knocked off during the bath and was seeping. So they investigated and I had meningitis...the student midwife was terrified she had done something wrong but she hadn't. Had she not came in to ask such a simple question my mum would have gone home a day or 2 later with a very sick baby.
I went to see the Midwife this morning and she was brilliant. She managed to identify a few of the midwifes in the photo I took in and a few in an article that was printed after the hospital closed. She keeps in touch with a few of them and she is certain that one of the others she is in touch with might be able to help as she may know who the 'mystery midwife' may be. She has agreed to help me and is going to be seeing some of the others in coming weeks and will ask about and she is going to go through some of her old photographs to see if we can identify this lady.
Crossing my fingers on this one. Apparently a few of them still are midwifes in the local maternity unit, so who knows what the coming weeks may hold.
