most probably the makers mark
What exactly does the hallmark say yobanfa ? It would help if you knew what assay office the hallmark says...ie London, Birmingham, Sheffield, etc, etc

The hallmark is from Birmingham, it's the sponsors mark that is BMS
yobanfa...I have tried to google Birmingham makers marks for you but all I can find is for silver, not gold. I am too busy today but if you research yourself, you may have some luck.

Bear in mind that there were 1000's of different makers, and it may be difficult to identify one from over 200 years ago.
Possibly stands for Betts Metal Sales. They have been involved in the jewellery and precious metals business in Birmingham since 1760.
