Hedgehog

Just spotted a rather large hedgehog in my garden. First one I've seen in a few years but am surprised it is trundling around mid morning, I've always though of them as nocturnal animals. Any explanation?

Thanks divebuddy, that's what I wondered. There is a hedgehog sanctuary quite close to me so I might attempt to get him/her there for some TLC.

Good idea Maggie. Waterboatman is our Hedgehog master I hope he reads this. As you have a local sanctuary nearby, taking him/her there is s good idea. Well done for looking out for it. I love hedgehogs.

I agree with Divebuddy, its likely that there is something wrong if you see them about during the day.
I'm pretty sure that cows milk is harmful to them but goats milk is ok.
But its a good idea to seek professional advice.

No milk or bread. Just water.

Dog or cat food - chicken usually, not in gravy.

Hi Maggie,

I woul contact the Rspca, as that hedgehog will be unwell to be out in daylight and will need some medical treatment.
