Has anyone gotten married in Las Vegas? My boyfriend and I have talked about we'd really like to do this as neither of us are interested in a big wedding and we just want to be the 2 of us. I'd love to hear about how you did it, where you stayed... basically everything.

Thanks

My mam and dad renewed their wedding vows in Vegas a few years ago. They did it as a bit of fun and it was very tongue in cheek. They had an Elvis impersonator/singer and it was great fun. The wedding place sent a limo to pick us all up and we arrived and sat in the chapel while my brother walked my mum down the aisle, they exchanged vows and then Elvis sang. After that we went into another room where a photographer took loads of pictures and then took them outside for pics with Elvis and a pink cadillac and then the limo driver took us back to the New York New York hotel where we were having a meal. All in all it was a great experience but if you want something serious/romantic, I wouldn't recommend it.Now for the boring (but important)bits... Go the day before the wedding and take all your documents and pay for it then, as it's not very romantic (even in a tongue in cheek wedding) to have to pay and show all your docs before the ceremony starts - we were all stood around in the reception area while my parents paid and showed their wedding certificate before we went into the chapel.
Also, the photographer will cost you extra and you're not allowed to film (we did sneakily but it aint very good because of us being "undercover") or take your own pictures so if you want stuff like that it will cost extra (and be warned you have to tip the photographer on top of his regular fees). Elvis also costs extra (and you need to tip him too). You will also need to tip the limo driver. And the person (priest?) who marrys you (not your spouse to be lol) does not get paid so you HAVE to tip him/her otherwise they get nowt. Everyone expects a tip so if your budget is tight don't forget to budget for these "hidden" extras.I think in all it costs my parents about $400-$500 for everything. We were staying at the Luxor - highly recommended. If you don't fancy a "fun" tongue-in-cheek wedding like this, you can organise ceremonies in the hotels themselves but I don't know anything about this.HTH

Thank you flipflop104. This is exactly what we're after. We're not really in to the whole romance butwould rather do something fun and as we both love Elvis it sounds ideal.

Did you have to book or can you just go down there? I might sound a bit weird me asking this but you always see people popping in and out of these places getting married on the spur of the moment in films... or if your name is Britney Spears

Got back from Vegas last week, stayed at Circus Circus, it is a bit of a dive but I got it for $50 a night. The strip is 4 miles long, so it a long walk in 45 degree heat. If you are on a tight budget, there is a Travellodge right in the middle of everything. As you are Elvis fans check out the Hilton, this is where he played for 8 years and they have a 12ft statue in the lobby. The Hilton is off strip but I was tolg a lot of Elvis fans get married in their chapel.
