Work from home?

Any ABers any experience of working from home? I see ads asking you to send cash for an info pack, but I have heard that this is usually a con.

It rings a bell that someone I used to know worked from home, putting screws/nuts/washers into little packets, then sealing the packet up. This was many years ago, and I don't know the whereabouts of the person now, so I can't ask them. Don't know whether this type of work still exists. Anyone any ideas?

I would have thought that any genuine recruiters wouldn't ask for cash for an information pack. From what I've heard these kinds of jobs pay peanuts.

Depending on your skills, there are lots of genuine job opportunities out there that require people to work from home. Or consider starting your own business. Many don't require you to be in an office full-time.

I'm an Avon rep. Not that I have many customers or make any money (because that's not why I do it), but there are plenty who earn a decent commission doing it.

You can do repping and party-planning for all sorts of people - anything from Ann Summers to BetterWare.

When I was younger and stuck at home with the kids, I used to take on typing work for people, manuscripts, reports, essays and the like. I'd put cards in the newsagent's window and the like. Again, I never made a fantastic amount but it covered my costs and gave me a little bit of sweetie money.

Basically, think of a skill you have and see if there's a way you can cash in on it.

Thanks for replies. Although it would be boring, I liked the sound of assembling packets of screws etc. at home. I typed at home years ago, but the demand dwindled as more and more people got their own home computer.

I am quite a shy person and do not have the personality to be an Avon lady.
