Un 'shocked' Over Clashes In Hungary
http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/wo rld-eur ope-342 75400
Not surprising given the appalling scenes I saw on last nights news....firing CS gas and water cannon at children !
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said such treatment of asylum seekers was "unacceptable". On the Today Program this morning, a representative for the UN said that Hungary had violated the Geneva Convention with its brutal treatment of these refugees.
Even Serbia, not a nation that has the proudest record when it comes to human rights agrees. "Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic accused Hungary of being "brutal and "non-European".
Contrast this brutal treatment, with the actions of the Croatian Government, which is treating these people with respect, not brutal oppression.

Most telling of all was the episode where the small boy, his mother and siblings were drowned as they made their way ina rubber dinghy from Bodrum to Kos. This was flashed around the world to demonstrate the plight of these hapless "refugees" and was feted as a "pivotal moment" in the crisis.
What was not explained was that the familyhad lived in Turkey for three years and that the father acually had a job there. The public is being bullied by people such as the UN's Secretary-General into accepting that this invasion of Europe is a humanitarian crisis resulting from the civil war in Syria. It is not. It is not. Almost all of these people simply do not like it where they have found themselves.
Incidentally, I notice tonight that the Croatians may now be regretting the warm welcome they suggested they would extend to th emigrants a few days ago:

And the real knock-on effect is.....
Thanks to the stupidity of, Chancellor Merkel and her completely useless interior minister, Thomas de Maiziere's encouragement to come, and without any plan what to do when they did, thousands arrived through Austria to Germany down south in Munich. The authorities there, not knowing what to do, put them on trains to other German cities, one being Stuttgart, where a repeat performance took place, and at 4:00am two nights ago, 600 were dropped off in a small town, population 4,000 five miles from me, and they too have nowhere for them. My village (population 350) has no spare accommodation, neither have any others, so what now Mrs Merkel?
