Xbox360 Premium or Core System?

Hi, son wants an xbox360, the Core System seems quite a bit cheaper than the Premium, do they both have the same spec (& no, I'm not gonna wait for the ps3). Thanks.

best console?

We (well my son) has a PS2 but to be honest I cant take to it for some reason. Is the Xbox (Xbox 360) really worth the money? Or should I just get a gamecube (dont know if I like the look of them...
