"Bits" from the chippy

When I was younger..you could go to the chippy and get a bag of bits from them... little bits of cooked batter.. for about 5p!.. what were they called? Mr Crisper says ..scratchings...I cant...

How fair or unfair are these end of season play-offs to determine who shall be promoted? In League Two I see that Torquay finished in 7th place, a full11 points behind Shrewsbury Town over the season....
