I have 3 points on my licence. Am I right in assuming they are for 3 years? If so, what happens after the 3 years pass? Is there a certain period of time after that 3 years that I still have to inform...

ford fiesta zetec 1.4i

i have a 2002 (52 plate) 1.4i zetec fiesta and when I excelerate it starts to chug and isnt running properly the engine maintenance light comes on but it start's up fine
