When I convert a quicktime video on itunes to mpeg-4 it looses the sound and when i put a different type on my ipod it locks up, how do i keep the sound, when it shows your ipod name on the side mine...

I have a Video ipod 60GB and I had put videos in the correct format onto the ipod, and rightly they appeared under the video menu and I was able to play them fine. Then one day I went to find them...

Im trying to put vids on my iPod that i have downloaded. i convert them, then i sync them to my ipod but they have no sound. am i doing something wrong or does this always happen?
