Can you release hamsters back into the wild?

Is it ok as I know it's freezing outside but that's why god gave them fur right? I just want to know would it be ok from predators as it's pretty aggressive and may be able to attack a rat but I'm not...

Help needed with aggressive hamsters

Hi there I've just bought a new hamster and my old one does not like him at all the old hamster (jane) was ok with the new hamster (tarzan) but I was woken up last night by the most horrific squealing...
