Ford Fiesta 1996 reversing light/gears

Hi I've just replaced the reversing light switch on the gearbox and topped up the gearbox with oil. The reversing light now works ok, but I cant engage reverse gear.! Any idea?

Can you push start a car going in reverse?

As I'm stuck on an incline, it is possible to pust start it in reverse? Just stick it in reverse gear? And I can roll down the hill instead of getting another to push it?!
