How do you service your car?

Is it difficult to service your own car. I mean it's so bloody expensive at a garage. I have a 1994 pegeot 306. Thanks for any help, Rob

many thanks to you for the reply,the added info requested is a; wall mounted ,fan assisted ,room sealed, gas fired comination boiler.as i said it allows the rdiators to heat up but i cannot get hot...
