Diconnect CDR drive from PC?

I have two drives on my new PC: a DVD drive and a CDR drive. I want to disconnect the cdr drive so I can upgrade the firmware on the dvd drive. To disconnect the drive do you just pull the cables out...

CD Copy and add extra files to one CDR

How can I copy a CD and add a couple of extra files. There is enough space on the cdr but I don't know how to get Nero Burning ROM version 5 to do it?
