Effect of water on light....

If you place a pole in water it appears to point at an angle from the point where it enters the water. Why does this happen when the speed of light is always the same?

Household rubbish!

Where does it go? I know there are land fills etc but our town must have 20,000 houses. Even if you just have one bin per house per week thats nearly 100,000 bins a month and think how long its been...

Infrared disabled

My work laptop,a Dell Latitude d400 has its Infrared port disabled. I can't even see it in Control Panel.How do I enable it? I dont have admin rights on it.Thanks
