Kid's holidays

I'm struggling for ideas of where to take the kids (3 & 4 years old) on holiday this summer, we've done Portugal beaches for the last couple of years but something a bit more interesting would be good...

What is the purpose of the small lines on the 'outside' of the pitch, about 10 yards or so from each corner flag in both directions? Is it to make sure players stay 10 yards away from corner taker?
