Laptop computer insurance

I want to insure my laptop against accidental damage but I no longer have the receipt and am unable to get one Is there therefore any point in taking out insurance since surely i'll need the receipt...

Is it true that if you put a frog in a pan of cold water and then gradually heat it up then the frog won't jump out, it will just suffocate?

is it true that a mobile phone charger draws as much electricity if it is left plugged in and the plug switched regardless as to whether it is charging a phone or not?
