Bath Shower Mixer Lever squirts like a fountain

Wow that was hard to define.. The bath has a shower attached (of victorian style).. the lever between the taps you move diverts the water from the bath to the shower... but this time most of the water...

What happened to the joke in the BT Broadband advert where the chap's at a party carrying drinks and a lady stops him, takes a drink from him and he says some thing like - let me help you take that...
