Received a marketing email from a 'sister company' of AB.

I haven't given permission for my email address to be used in this manner. And there appears to be no way [unless someone can direct me] to set or change email preferences, apart from Newsletter and subscription to questions.

How sneaky.

When I was reading this thread yesterday, I wondered what you meant... today I have received my E-Mails, I wish I'd have read Ed's post though as I just didn't bother opening them thinking of this thread. I'll unsubscribe next time...
Sorted then, Dave...you win it and mow my lawn...... You're much younger than me.......... :-)
don't have a lawn or mower, and don't see the need to have either..
I don't have a lawn either but I could be persuaded to sell to the highest bidder should I win.

Thanks for the reply Ed. That's what I discovered from the T&C which is fine. However, I can't find where I might decline from receiving these emails in the first place, which is a legal requirement, and also in the T&C.

'The information you give us as an account holder will be accessible by you at the 'Sign-in' page. This enables you to change the details and select or de-select whether you wish to receive information about goods and services.'

Thanks in advance. :)
Is there a sister company to A/B then ?
I’ve just checked my email address associated with AB, and I’ve got them.
No big deal, but neither the unsubscribe nor change preferences links can be clicked on.

Apparently so whiskeryron.
Bigbad - I was able to unsubscribe on the email itself, but my original [and ongoing] query relates to there being no option on one's profile here on the website to opt out of receiving marketing emails in the first place. That's contrary to what is stated in the T&Cs.

*bump*

Any response on the opting out legal requirement please Ed? TIA.
Bigbad, was the email in your junk or spam folder? Sometimes when emails end up in there, your email provider might disable the links so they can't be clicked on. If you move the email to your inbox the links should be clickable.

Chinajan - The "subscribe to newsletter" tickbox in your profile is where you can opt out of receiving communications from us. Because the email about Gardenlines is something a little different and just something we wanted to let you know about, we sent you an email first asking if you would like to receive information about Gardenlines. We don't intend to spam you with random junk - this is a sister company that we just wanted to let you know about. That first email is designed to let you know and give you the chance to opt out, and if you have opted out we won't be contacting you again.
No, Ab Editor, it was in my inbox.

Looks like we now have a more commercially minded Ed, stand by for a deluge of emails.
not on my pc balders!!
