A-H "I think it's reasonable that an element of human nature is involved in moderation - what one Mod may delete, another may allow - that's simply the nature of moderation. " I agree entirely, but please remember that this is a two-way mechanism and that the perpetrator may not have answered in a way that can be described as rude.....e,g the OP of this thread....

andy-hughes, //I am sure that all Moderators do their best - in spite of regular veiled insults that infer that they have personal agendas, are unfair, take things personally, and so on and so on ....//
Oo-er…. and all I meant was that some mods seem rather more 'Jobsworth' aware than others.
anneasquith, //If we don't like or agree with the rules we can leave .!!//
Indeed … but when a ‘rule’ imposed is not listed in ‘the rules’ confusion is understandable, wouldn’t you agree?

Quite right, Naomi. The way some interpret the rules, elastic doesn't come close to describing it. If I were to make a derogatory and insulting remark to you personally, that would be in breach of the rules and I would expect the usual sanctions to be applied. On the other hand, if I were to make the same remarks about, say, Trump or Corbyn, then I think I wouldn't have broken any rules.

Perhaps a little thought or empathy might be considered by the "Mod" before pressing the delete button?

No argument there.
I do know - and have seen examples - that if the Ed feels a post was deleted without just cause, it can be reinstated. I know because it happened to a post I deleted!
No-one is perfect, but we are all trrying to do our best.
