Acronyms

Why is it considered acceptable to accept the use of acronyms such as 5C (fifth columnist), TROB (the right on brigade), TROP (the religion of peace), and so on?

Such usages are obviously aimed at avoiding censure as provocative phrases. They are also cowardly, as their users try to hide their meanings from newcomers, whilst emitting dog- whistles to those in the know.

If some of these terms were spelled out honestly, I suspect they might be frowned on by Mods.

He’s one of the few to keep the place lively, Anne. Without people like him the moaners, who very often do little to instigate discussion and generate ‘clicks’, would have nothing to moan about … and that would never do.

Atheist, I would suggest that by now, the Eda have already given whatever thought they need to this, and from their lack of response, they don't appear to have an issue.

Editing, like Moderating, is about assessing each post and it's meaning individually, and deciding on action, or not, at the time.

Your perceived wish to have the acronyms listed banned does not appear to have received the necessary support at AB Towers.

If I don't know an acronym and can't be bothered asking, I make up my own and attribute it to the poster. They're not always mean ;-)
