got a new dog from the sspca.a lovely black lurcher with three legs,6 months old, nice natured and house trained,he will never take the place of my beloved rex,but he will be loved as much,i hope he will be happy here
his front leg was dislocated,he only got it amputated about 2 weeks ago and he got dressed on monday,he got chipped today and his jags are up to date now
By the way I wasn't being sarcastic, just that i seen a dog before with 3 legs, one of his back legs was gone and he was walking grand, just thought it might be different as it was one of his front legs amputated
A farmer had a pig with three legs. It was very clever and did all sorts of jobs around the farm, herding up the cows for milking, leading the ducks to the duckpond, feeding the chickens &c. When the farmer was asked why the pig had only three legs he replied, "When you've got a pig that clever you don't eat it all at once!"
he does walk fine but its early days yet,he tripped coming upstairs,we have only to take him for short walks for the next few months, not running about too much, have to watch his weight as well as his front leg will have to get a lot stronger to carry his weight,i'm sure he will be fine though .
Oh-I want to see a piccy-as I love lurchery dogs also.
How big is he likely to get-and any idea of his mix?
Well done to you-lovely to know he's got a home.
My dog developed arthritis in his shoulders and had problems going down stairs - but dogs adapt really well to a missing limb.
When the above mutt was a bit younger he used to chase a three legged greyhound around the park, I am sure that the greyhound was laughing as Robbie never got anywhere near the dog.
