Personally, I'll never forget any of mine but have found the only way to ease the pain is to get a new friend that needs care and love. There's a dog out there waiting for you to give it a home. He doesn't want to replace your other dogs, just be a part of your life now and in the future. I'm thinking about you. Good luck x
Bit late, but you have my sympathy, too. It doesn't matter whether you have one dog or many, the loss of one always hits you. What to do now?Light a candle at home for the lost ones (I did this every day for years after I lost my two favourites)? The best answer is to take a deep breath and look for a new little one, or even two. With GSDs, it might not be a great idea to have two from the same litter or of the same age; I can guarantee that they'll be four times as difficult than one is; but having one and then another at about 6 months will work easily.
Good luck!

A big part of your life has gone, so its understandable that you are finding it hard to come to terms with. We spend more time with our dogs than with most people. However you did the right thing for him, and he will have loved you for that. Smile when you think of him and all the wonderful memories he has left you with.
I will never say never again to getting another one but at the moment I couldn't even begin to think about it. There was 6 months difference in ages and never a scrap of bother, they were a pleasure to have and brought so much happiness and laughter in to the house it just seems to quiet and flat in here without them x
