Dogs and Peanuts
3 Answers
I found my staffie eating peanuts the other day (dry roasted) are they harmful, obviously i wouldn't give them to her. I'm just a little concerned in case she's somehow got to them while i've been at work as she is loose in the house.
The nuts are kept in a container and the lid was off the other day, i'm not sure whether she had any but has been fine since. All her bodily functions are the same as ever and she's a loopy as ever.

My vet told me that the problem with nuts is that they could go down the wrong way and end up in the lungs. I am not entirely sure whether he was just hypothesising or whether he had actually come across some mutt with peanut lung.
If she is okay then there is no harm done. If it had been my last dog he would have eaten the nuts and the container before I found out anything was amiss.
