This news story has bothered me the most out of the ones following Japans disaster, and I was so pleased to read this.

Both dogs have been rescued and are on the mend :-)

Some people post on here about every itty-bitty issue in their lives and no-one (generally) tells them to think of whatever disaster is going on in the world as being more important. It doesn't detract at all from the human suffering in Japan (or Libya)and I think it's a great story. Thanks for posting it B00,

Thsnk you prudie and everyone else.

I'm flabberghasted why Dt has taken exception to this post to be honest, but as his opinion means diddly to me, i won;t lose any sleep over it.

Glad everyone else liked the follow up story.
I agree Prudie. it's a lovely thread which really cheered me up
In Japan, there are specialist dog meat restaurants. Some 5 tonnes of dog meat was imported for consumption. Puts this story a little more in perspective................
DT you are like a dog with a bone!!!!
That's fantastic news, B00. I'm very pleased to read it.

I couldn't watch it when Jem posted it, but I'm so happy that they've been rescued. And relieved that the one they thought was dead is alive. Very happy ending :o) x
Can't face facts, huh. Look, I lived across the water and dog is a fairly common meat in restaurants, not as common as Vietnam though. There are speciality restuarants in Japan - they probably value it like Puffer fish. Not every Japanese eats them, that I will accept, but 5 tonnes is no small quantity.

I have stated that the story of rescuing animals is a nice one; however IMO the human one is more important one (and that has been overshadowed by the nuclear story). What is wrong in making that point? I believe there is a misbalance, especially in light of the other more important news about two survivors coming to light.

It is my opinion and when I last looked, I am able to post on any thread as a freedom of speech (allowing for the Ed!); well I thought it was that way unless Mme Qadaffi has taken over on this particular thread. In short, I do not appreciate your rudeness and I will (underline) contribute to any thread that you are on, Boo, as you are totally free to do so on mine.

I take great exception to you coming on a thread, in particularly mine, to somehow try to belittle a lovely news story. How dare you try to dictate which news story i feel empathy for more than any other! Who do you think you are?

As you've stated, its your opinion, but as the majority on this thread don't agree with you, don't you think you'd be better elsewhere before you make yourself look even sillier?
Any more arguing on this thread and I will send my cat to shred you - she takes no prisoners.

I have no problem with the Japanese eating dog or cat or trolls but whilst the animal is still alive it should be treated with compassion and respect.
Aren't the dogs that get eaten, specifically bred for food though? Those dogs were someone's pets. There's a difference.
For Christ's sake, I am not belittling the story,......I am making the point that it needs putting in proper perspective. Thats all.....Black and White.

DT - your comments are valid and, in this post, irrelevant.

B00 - and the rest of us - feel that the story is touching, amongst all the bedlam in Japan some person saw the pain and confusion of these dogs. Many times animals are ignored in such situations.

It is a nice story amongst news reports of not so nice stories.
I certainly won't lose any sleep over a couple of dogs being found or lost. I would/am more concerned about 20k humans missing.........and there was a report this afternoon they believe there is another town of 15k still missing which is where that higher number now comes from. Appalling and I hope that you agree with that.

So, in that sense, we will agree to disagree.

Because as DT pointed out Nox, they're only a couple of dogs.
