We've only had him for four years (got him as a pup after Tara) and about six weeks ago he started having epileptic fits. Golden Retreivers seem to be
quite often epileptic. Then the fits came more often and today he had a CT scan which confirmed a brain tumour.
I'm just devastated. Tomorrow the surgeon will explain our options, but it doesn't look good. Apart from the cost (a few thousand - I'd pay if it made him better) the outlook even after that is not promising.
I'm afraid decisions will have to be made.
Life's a bitch.

You can be very proud in knowing you have done the right thing. It is so painful losing such a faithful friend, especially when you are making the decision. Best wishes.
I'm so very sorry to hear that you've been hit with such a thunderbolt tara.
There are no words which don't sound trite. All I can say is I do care.

"No words can comfort all we can do
Is share your North face route with you"

lines from a poem by Mary Sheepshanks
Oh Tara, I just had to reread your post as I thought I had got it wrong. I am so so sorry for you and poor Sandy. What teribble news after yesterdays hope. I just feel so sad and really upset. I know the pain you are going through tonight. I am worried sick tonight about my other rough collie. Ben. I have noticed today he has a black growth like spot on the corner of his nose. Will have to get him to the vets and get it checked. But for now all my love and hugs for you. Good night.God Bless Sandy xxxx Brenda xx

Just found out his spleen, liver and lungs were all affected. That, and the brain tumour were too much.
Now, oddly enough, I don't feel quite so bad. Nobody could have done anything for him except what we did. I just feel so angry at the injustice of it all.
Thank you all for your support, it helps a lot.

Tara
So sorry to hear the news. What you did was the last act of love you can do. Cherish the memories of your all too short time together and rest easy knowing you did what was right.
