Frankie tells me when he and his sister want to be fed. He howls, yowls and cries until I go and feed them. If I am too slow the claws are used.

This cat is much more subtle

I don't have cats now. One of mine used to very gently tap my face to wake me up when she felt it was time to be fed.
The cat in your OP is brilliant.
yes and no.....most days my dogs get kibble twice a day and will ask for it at varying times....breakfast between 06.30 and around 9am, dinner between around 4pm and 6pm. Odd times they will have hungry days when they ask for an extra meal...but they yesterday we had a busy and exciting day and they went to bed without dinner because neither of them asked for it so it balances out. They get smaller meals of meat or fish at lunchtime and late evening when I eat. I can do this because I am retired and can please myself about when I do what...would have to be a lot more structured if I was still working.

My lad loves food and is on steroids, he is always hungry. He wakes me by punching me in the face.

Cloverjo, a nice tap on my face would be much more pleasant.

Woof, when I had a dog there was more structure to my day. I fed them twice a day and, maybe, toast at supper time. A dog will usually it until you are ready to feed them. Cats want everything their way.
Our cat gets affectionate to make us feel wanted so he gets fed.

Once he's eaten we have outlived our use and we are ignored, or glared at if we try to mess around with him.
MY neighbours cat Poppy tries to open my back door to get fed from me - I think she kind of scares me so I throw her a few dreamies - she's one crazy cat
Couldn't be any plainer, could it!
nothing subtle about my dog, she throws her bowl at me
Mia eats little and often... just had some grilled chicken breast and a few biccies
Our dog used to plonk his bowl in my lap!
wolf where do you find these dogs who are happy to wait to be fed? I have never had one :)
My little Jill is happy to eat when I feed her, she never demands her food. I stick to a routine with her and she's more than happy with that.
One of my cats knows exactly what to do to get fed or let out without fail - she sits on my laptop keyboard.
Caspar figures if I'm in the kitchen, it MUST be feeding time. Even if he was just fed.
Sally is patient and never( or rarely ) asks. But if I'm too late in the morning, she turns her nose up.
But she'll take treats anytime.
I know that this is about cats but Tilly sits at your feet and stares at you about five minutes before feeding time. She's very clever and knows it's nearly half past six.
My four cats are fed on a 'running buffet' basis. i.e. I try to ensure that they've always got two types of pouch food (one 'gravy', one 'jelly') available, together with loads of biscuits and fresh water.

However if one of them finds that there's none of their particular favourite available when they want it, they'll soon let me know about it! (Chequers has got a 'miaow' that can wake the neighbours, so I have to respond quickly when he's hungry!)

The (lovely) cat in your video is far more patient than any of mine would be ;-)
Weird how the little gits will eat cat food in jelly one day and the next day they don't want that, they want the cat food in gravy isn't it.
