I have two koi that were bought as a present about a month ago, however have not seen them since, do they generally hide at the bottom during winter or have they been scoffed by a heron?

Coldwater fish...including koi, will generally move to deeper water in the colder months. However, it's not exactly been cold !!!. If they've been feeding happily then just disappeared, they've either been eaten by a heron or cat or been spooked by them and are therefore hiding.
Good luck

thanks andy, we have just introduced them to the water, however they have not been up for any food and now trying the sinking type, but no sighting as yet, plus the water is freezing! ( not literally but it is very cold!)
