to expand the question, what do you do when you see a stray cat and try to save it / bring it to your home? My friend had faced the problem recently and we both didn't know what to do about it. Could anyone please explain the process of any action in detail?
I don't think I have ever seen one that I "knew" was a stray. People quite often take over other people's cats though... maybe take it to the vet to see if there is a microchip. Does it look really skinny and neglected? X
I was a driver for the Cat's Protection League for a while and regularly went to pick up stray cats. Sometimes the owner would come forward but most times they were fed, neutered, micro chipped then rehomed. Your local centre would advise.
The only call I got though was from someone who lived a little further along the road from me, to say that he was spending half of his time in their house as well but they too had no idea where he'd come from. He lived with me (and in the other house) for a few weeks and then disappeared again.
