I'm Missing My Pets So Much
46 Answers
Yesterday I was looking at some old photos of both Caspar and Sally...when they were in their prime. I just started crying...i felt so damn sad not having them here.
On top of that, I sometimes have "flashbacks" of Sammi going after me...then I think of other ways he *might* have been unpredictable.
Mind, I'm ok most of the time, but sometimes I feel a bit overwhelmed. It's been over 3 months... or, only 3 months...

Gorgeous, shoots :-) my cocker is the most cuddly, affectionate, loyal dog I have ever known. Although he nearly gave me a nervous breakdown the first year (and I don't say that lightly!).
Pasta, it's awful, you need to take as much time as you need. Sometimes it hits you from nowhere, and it does get better xx
One thing I've noticed recently- and it is an observation, rather than condoning or approval as such ... it may or may not help.
Dogs are now worth a lot of money... quite suddenly, really, and there are so many free advertising sites, that it seems pretty much everyone wanting to offload a dog, for any reason, will first try to sell it... a few hundred or thousand is more tempting than giving one away. So the free sites have thousands of dogs needing new homes. Including Trusts and Rescues.
By the time a dog gets gets as far as a Rescue centre nowadays, it seems to be because they have either never had a "proper" home, or they have, but were unable to be "sold". Either way, and just rationally, I would guess they will have a higher proportion of problems, and maybe need experience. I got one of my dogs from gumtree, the evening before she was going to a shelter. You have to be careful, only pay by bank transfer, so it is traceable. But looking at other people with new dogs... this is, rightly or wrongly, what seems to be happening. Which is maybe why the rescues are not only offering fewer, but you now need to join waiting lists, where they used to throw them at you two at a time...
Just a current observation, that's all.

I know how you feel, Pasta. I was devastated when I lost my cat Snoopy in 2000. He was 15 when he passed away from kidney failure. Then I got Tigger and Blue from Battersea.
Tigger was put down due to kidney failure when my son was 18 months. I remember the song that was playing on the radio at the vets at the time and every time I hear it I well up! Blue died a year later from a tumour :o(

Gorgeous dog shoota...sweet face.
Thank you LadyCG. x
Pixie, even on gumtree, dogs cost a fortune. I checked out lurchers the other day...£500 up to 1200 for young dogs. And I came across a new mixed breed...a cockapoochon, cockapoo crossed with Bichon...£3,000. And it was a litter of 8. Yikes. No, I'd rather give my money to a rescue.
I think there are a lot people hoping to be making a lot of money quickly.
It doesn't take much, does it Tiggs? They stay with us forever.
Not to worry Bobbi...there's a furry in my future.
Commuted to Connecticut calmck? That's a long drive.
Pixie...I think old threads get cleared to make room for new ones.
