Many on here often asked after ASBO, my naughty ginger cat.

He was hit on the road today and died in my arms. He was 16.

My heart is broken.

BM, do you mind me asking how he came into your life? Did you buy him, get him from a shelter or did he just stroll into your life as many do?

I do hope, in time, you will consider giving a home to another feline friend.
Oh Barmaid I am so very sorry. I remember you talking about him often. A treasured family member. Sending hugs your way. RIP Asbo.

LB - my best friend's cat had a litter. She gave me the pick of the litter. I've known him since he was two days old. At 6 weeks he was bossing her dogs about and made such a fool of himself we kind of chose each other. He showed such attitude even as a tiny kitten. He used to have us in stitches with his facial expressions and his antics.

I cannot ever replace my boy - his paws are too big to fill. But we have both agreed that there is a cat shaped hole in this house and in due course we think that we can give a loving home to another cat who can then live his or her best life, and we think that a rescue will be our route. ASBO's dad was feral and he certainly could behave like a feral. There is also a job to do round here in terms of vermin control! So a cat from a feral background or one needing a single cat home or a rural home would be our priority. But not just yet. x
All the 20 or more cats who have joined me in my life in Portugal have just appeared on my land. Strangely many showed up within the first days or weeks of someone crossing the bridge.

Sorry to hear this, Barmaid.
I feel for you, BM, I really do. Losing a beloved pet is just so awful. x
poor barmaid
poor cat
Thank you BM. You'll certainly have plenty to choose from, when you are ready.

Asbo was a very lucky cat. xx
I hope you are bearing up okay, BM. It takes time.
So sorry for your loss Barmaid, and of course your partner.

Reading of his antics over the years has made Asbo a main feature here on AB.. just so gutted for you. Be happy to know he spent every second of his life being loved when so many don't have that privilege.

I lost my boy Mance {Rayder, King of the North] to a car 6 months ago and as I never got to see him I still expect him to stroll in the door at times :(

You are both in my thoughts, much love Lisa x

Thank you, everyone, for your kind comments.

He has been buried in a very special spot (special to him and to us - but more so now to us).

His paws are too big to fill and we would not try and fill them. However, he undertook 16 years of slave-training over me and 5 years over Mr BM and that would be a shame to waste. So, we have registered with two local pet re-homing charities.
Another cat will find its forever home with you both - a thoughtful gesture indeed. x
Gosh just seen you've registered with two cat charities Bm. I'm amazed and humbled that you've done it so soon after losing your much loved Asbo. Looking forward to seeing your new joy when it arrives. Bet you go for a boy again.

Well done and I hope life is getting a little easier for you. Losing a pet is so damned hard.
I feel your home should have a cat.
