can different types of tits crossbreed? have seen on feeder in garden what i first thought was a baby great tit. but, there is a family of great tits and this little chap has not grown. not a blue tit either. always looks scruffy.

apparently the males are often more scruffy looking than the females - I have one who's a disgrace! :o)

It isn't a coal tit is it by any chance? They are very small.

Yes, they can hybridise, but seldom do so. It is more likely to be one of the common young ones not coloured up or a bedraggled one ready to molt into a new plumage.
