It's revenge, BM! I think they just like to shake their fur back into comfort, and like you say to dampen their surroundings!

every dog I have ever owned have done the same, perhaps they feel good?!!
Not to mention them trying to dry themselves along the carpet and furniture, running amuck all over the house and then trying to jump on the newly ironed duvet cover. But we just love them to bits. lol.

Hee , thankyou for the delightful replies . She is a large dog and so emits a lot of spray , as you say leelalops probably partly to shake into comfort and a great part revenge , and ,yes, jules she seems in 7th heaven doing it.
Cruella , indeed , rubbing her head and neck along the carpet . :-)

Here's a tip to stop them shaking whilst you are actually bathing them - hold your hand on their neck and shower or pour water over their back behind your hand. Press down gently on their neck and they will not shake. Try to avoid water going on their faces and in their eyes/ears. Then put a towel over them before you lift them out of the bath and let them shake under the towel. Give them a good rub and most of the water will have come out.

Then stand well clear while they shake themselves and rub on the furniture!
Nobody has mentioned them getting out into the garden and rolling in the grass! Maybe they prefer the outdoor smell on their coats.

Thankyou for that great tip lankeela , I will try that next time .
I already towel rub her a bit before I let her loose but as you can imagine with a dog weighing in at around 47 kilos she holds a lot of wet in that coat. :-) x
That's true wolf , and that's usually what they would rather do ..lol. :-)x
I remember on holiday in Cornwall and we washed her several times because out on the moors she seemed to roll in the only bit of fox poo out there !!!
Tip for removing the smell of fox poo - rub tomato ketchup on it! It does work, honest!
I have recently bought some of these Trover coats, great with this awful weather we are having - I leave them on my lot for up to an hour after they have been for a walk, or had a bath, and although not completely dry (I have a long coated breed), they dont soak the house or the furniture.

Great tip lankeela, but isn't half the fun of bathing a dog, getting absolutely soaked to the skin, my hubby and I bathed our white GSD last night, great fun!!!
