Yes - def chocolate - we often have had weeny mice in the garage and around the garden - such sweet peas but my goodness they can breed at an alarming rate!! we have a couple of humane traps at the ready with pup's choccie drops in them. It works very well - then we take them to a special spot away from the house.
Since the neighbour demolished his shed - we havn't seen so many - it was obviously their nesting place - guess they have uprooted and gone elsewhere!!
hau kola - sounds like the little critter is doing well! :o)

Take the mouse to the pet shop, as before and get your daughter a suitable pet like fish........better still, try a ferret as mine will be there when they're old enuf. Ferrets make lovely pets!
Not right to keep wild creatures in captivity! That mouse has work to do like eat snails and bugs outside. It may even have a family waiting for it.

While you are keeping that mouse captive, have you considered what has been happening to its babies?
In summary, you have three options:-
If you want to do the best thing for the mouse, then that would have been to release it back into the wild as soon as possible.
If yo want to do the best thing for humanity, then dispose of it as soon as possible.
If you want to do the best thing for your cat, then give your cat its playmate back asap.

I rescued a baby field mouse from Cassie, about 8 yrs ago. I was going to set it free after it had recovered, but it was doing well in captivity (as it was very young) and I got all soppy and didn't want to set it free, just to have it caught again. Anyway, to cut a long story short, we kept her and she became very tame. we fed her on rabbit food, plus berries and nuts in the autumn and she lived to be 6 years old! She moved with us to Wales (in her little box in the back of the car with the two cats we had then) and had a big terrarium, with loads of space in our study. I must admit, I felt a bit sorry for her, being on her own, but she seemed to enjoy our company and used to come out and run around. When she finally died, I buried her in the garden, under a young conifer, which has now grown to about 3ft. She never had a name, just "mouse" and she was very sweet.
gen, its only a baby so i don`t think it has babies of its own.
Kleiber, thats a geat story.Humphrey (my daughters idea) is in a lidded fish tank with wood shavings, cotton wool and a little house borrowed from a friend. He`s eating and drinking well so should be ok to release in the morning when there are fewer cats about.
