Our family scotty dog, Ellen, was taken into the vet for tests this morning after not eating for a few days. The vet called us early this afternoon to say she had kidney failure and nothing could be done to help her. She died in my arms at 2.30 this afternoon :'(

Thank you Cruella, she's probably terrorising our previous dogs Sam and Fagan at RB by now, the little madam LOL xx
Sorry to hear your news Lakitu. It's really sad when you have to let them go, but you were able to stay with her to the end.
In tim e you will be able to smile at the happy times you had together.
Take care

Much love to you Lakitu at this sad time. It is so good that she died in your arms and was with someone she loved and trusted.

Bless you Ellen (what a lovely name for a little dog).

Thank you, Lottie xx

The night we took her home as 'our new puppy', was a Friday night and we were discussing what to call her (in between playing and kissing and hugging her hehe). 'Ellen' was on the TV at the time and we all thought it was a nice name for her - so there you have it, she was named after a lesbian comedienne LOL!
I am so sorry,Lakitu.....I know exactly how that feels. At least you know she probably had no pain...and is running freely now at Rainbow Bridge x
Ah I'm so sorry lakitu, always hard losing a dear pet!

I'm sure you gave her the best life possible while she was alive though so try to look at it like that :)

Sending you love and hugs

Thank you Pasta and Karmgirl xxxx
Oh no, I'm so sorry ! Last week my gorgeous little hamster died in my arms. I know he wasn't as important as a dog but he was very much loved. He looked ill on the wednesday and when I went in on Thursday he was curled up unconscious so I picked him up and cuddled him and told him I loved him and he just died peacefully. It was awful.
So sorry to hear about your sad loss, Lakitu. Losing a pet is just like losing one of the family, because they are one of the family. My 3 cats are 17 and 15 and 15 respectively, and I will be heartbroken when they go. If I had a dog it would have to be a Westie, as they are lovely. Does anyone know how long they live for?
it must be an awful time for you but I am sure you have so many happy memories and they will become the predominant ones quicker than you can now imagine.

Best wishes and much love

Jillius, your hamster was important, he was living and breathing and you loved him. I was upset when my gerbil died in my hands a few years back. Poor little mite :(

JohnnyBoy - Ellen was 10, I think it's anything from 10 - 15 years.

Jillius, your hamster was just as important as any other pet. Sorry to hear about him.
oh yes jillius, all creatures great and small, whether its rat, dog, horse, cat, hamster, gerbil and even chicken and they are a member of your family then they are a very important member of the family, my condolences to you too.xxxxx(((hugs)))
Thank you Lakitu and LoftyLottie
